Understanding Human Trafficking
Project ANGEL exists to walk beside survivors of human trafficking as they return to themselves — not as broken, but as whole.
Our mission is to offer sacred, soul-rooted support that honors each survivor’s pace, power, and path. We do this through Trauma-Conscious™ care, Energetic Alignment, and Soul Reconnection — helping survivors of all ages reclaim safety, dignity, and purpose.
But our mission doesn’t stop with healing. It extends to awareness, advocacy, and reimagining what support looks like in a world that has too often looked away.
At its heart, our mission is simple:
To remember what was forgotten, to restore what was stolen, and to walk each step in reverence.
Unlike many organizations that focus only on rescue or clinical rehabilitation, Project Angel begins where words often fail. We offer survivors of all ages — from children to elders — an invitation to return to themselves through a sacred, soul-rooted journey. Our work is guided by Trauma-Conscious™ Care, Energetic Alignment, and Soul Reconnection. We don’t treat people like problems to fix — we remember them back to wholeness. Every path is honored. Every pace is sacred. This isn’t a program. It’s a living practice of deep presence, fierce compassion, and radical support.
Project Angel is rooted in the Sacred Valley of Peru, where we offer both short- and long-term in-person support for survivors. But our reach is global. Through online one-on-one healing sessions, community support groups, and awareness education, we walk beside survivors and allies across the world. Whether someone is near or far, our circle is wide, and all are welcome within it.
Yes — deeply and intentionally so.
Project Angel was originally born out of a conversation between River A. Dawn and another practitioner, when River — after escaping trafficking — sought support and healing but found that the systems available couldn’t hold what she’d lived through. That initial connection led to the founding of Project Angel in its earliest form — created for her, when the world had offered nowhere else to turn.
River eventually stepped in as Director and guide of Project Angel in early 2024. She has since expanded and reshaped the organization into what it is now — a living, breathing sanctuary for survivors rooted in the wisdom of lived experience, ancestral remembering, and soul-deep healing.
While Project Angel wasn’t founded by a survivor in title, it was born through the needs of one — and is now entirely survivor-directed. Every element of our work today — from the Trauma-Conscious™ practices to our energy-based modalities — is infused with River’s lived wisdom, fierce compassion, and radical understanding of what survivors actually need in order to reclaim their lives.
